Systems
Engineering

Systems engineering is the discipline that keeps a complex system consistent as a whole, from conceptual need to verified operational product.
Systems engineering defines the system from its operational and functional needs and allocates requirements to subsystems, equipment and suppliers. It provides the methods and processes to control the interfaces between them and closes the loop through verification and validation. ANZEN applies this discipline across the full development cycle, following ARP4754B, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, ECSS and equivalent.
Build safety and reliability into your system, not just into your reports.

HOW WE HELP

Full Lifecycle Systems Engineering

We can define, plan and run the development process for your system, scaled to its criticality, needs and constraints. In aviation we follow ARP4754B/ED-79B, across industries ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, and in space ECSS-E-ST-10C.

System development and certification plans

  • Lifecycle, gates and design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR), with entry and exit criteria mapped to the available evidence, supporting qualification campaigns up to get DDPs and Permit to Fly or equivalent milestones.
  • Development assurance levels (FDAL, IDAL), allocated together with the safety assessment
  • Evaluations and audits of adherence of development processes to ARP4754B and ARP4761A
  • Development, Design Assurance, V&V, Test, Qualification , Safety and Certification Plans

Requirements, Architecture & Design

  • Stakeholder needs, concept of operations and operational scenarios
  • Requirements capture, breakdown, derivation (top-down level requirements and relevant industry standards), allocation, validation and verification
  • Functional, logical and physical architecture, interfaces and interface control documents
  • Traceability and change impact analysis, including integrations with requirements management tools
  • Verification strategy and plans, with a verification method per requirement (e.g. test, analysis, inspection, similarity)
  • Verification and compliance matrices
  • Integration, verification, validation and qualification (IVVQ), test readiness and support to test campaigns
  • Supplier requirement cascade and design integration, follow-up and reviews

Models and Simulation in Systems Engineering

  • Model-Based integration of Systems Engineering process (see MBSE / MBSA)
  • Plant and control functional and performance models, to support design process and architectures (e.g. check performance and failure behavior before hardware is available and used as validation means.
  • Closed loop simulation and state machines of control and monitoring logic, including failure states and safe states
