ANZEN Engineering: The Spanish aerospace Safety & Reliability leader achieving more than €4 Million in annual revenue in just five years — The story behind its success

Madrid, May 31, 2024.

  • ANZEN Engineering celebrates its 5th anniversary at the European Space Agency (ESA) facilities in Madrid (ESAC), joined by key players from across the aerospace industry and expert panellists from leading companies including Airbus, Grupo Oesía, and Skydweller, among others.
  • The event was also attended by the Director of the Spanish Space Agency, Juan Carlos Cortés Pulido.
  • Pablo de la Cruz, CEO of ANZEN Engineering, has been named one of Europe’s 30 most influential young entrepreneurs under 30 by Forbes.

Founded in 2019 by four passionate and talented aerospace engineers with a bold vision to support the aerospace and defense sectors in meeting rigorous safety standards, ANZEN Engineering has quickly positioned as a key player in aerospace system safety and reliability. Their mission: to minimize risk and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.

In its first year, the four co-founders —Pablo de la Cruz, Víctor Moyano, Daniel García, and Jesús Escudero— most of them former Airbus engineers, hired their first employee and generated €75,000 in revenue. Fast forward five years to 2024, the company now forecasts more than €4 million in annual revenue, nearly doubling the €2.5 million closed in 2023. ANZEN now boasts 50+ employees of eight nationalities across four global offices: Lucerne (Switzerland), Washington D.C. (USA), Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Madrid (Spain). It has also launched a spin-off, ANZEN Innovation, received multiple grants from CDTI (the Spanish Center for the Development of Industrial Technology), and actively contributes to major international programs such as ARIEL —a mission led by ESA and Airbus Defence & Space to launch a satellite that will analyze 1,000 Earth-like exoplanets.

Moreover, CEO Pablo de la Cruz was recognized by Forbes as one of Europe’s most influential entrepreneurs under 30 —a testament to the company’s remarkable growth and influence in a sector known for its high barriers to entry.

But how has this young company managed to achieve so much, so quickly, in such a demanding industry? What are the keys to ANZEN’s success, and what lies ahead?

Six Core Values Driving ANZEN’s Growth, According to CEO Pablo de la Cruz:

  1. Integrity – A steadfast commitment to honesty, transparency, and ethics.
  2. Technical Excellence – Setting high standards of expertise and innovation.
  3. Positive Attitude – Building trust-based client relationships to unlock differentiated outcomes.
  4. Innovation & Creativity – Constant pursuit of progress and new ideas.
  5. Aspiration – Ambitious goal-setting, resilience, and a drive for continuous growth.
  6. Empowerment – Enabling team members to take initiative and grow professionally.

The Next 5 Years

ANZEN is expecting an exciting future. In addition to consolidating its position as a European leader in aerospace safety, the company will continue to pursue high value engineering solutions, including artificial intelligence (AI), and develop specialized hardware and software to ensure system safety. Expansion in both the US (through its Washington D.C. office) and Europe (Madrid and Lucerne) remains a strategic focus.

5th Anniversary Celebration

The celebration was held at ESA’s European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in Madrid and gathered around 100 attendees from leading aerospace and defense companies and institutions, including Airbus, Grupo Oesía, Escribano, Skydweller, Sener, Boeing, Thales Alenia Space, Mercury Systems, the Spanish Ministry of Defense, the ESA, INTA, and the Spanish Space Agency (AEE).

CEO Pablo de la Cruz on the company’s mission:

“Leading a company in the aerospace sector —one with such stringent standards— is a constant challenge. Every day, we strive to win new projects, explore new frontiers, and innovate to remain profitable and sustain the trust, safety, quality, and commitment expected by our stakeholders and clients. Now that we’ve established a solid and profitable business, our next challenge is to lead in next-generation aerospace safety through emerging technologies such as AI and hybrid propulsion, as well as specialized hardware and software for system safety. We aim to bring to life new advancements such as air taxis, autonomous drones, and space exploration projects —safely transforming transport and aerospace for all.”
